How loud is the AH exhaust, what are the beni's for lighter wheels

Hi KS-was looking at your bike pics and wanted to ask you a few questions about your mods. So...how loud is the alien head? If you are in a residential area and it is late at night...you are just creeping through the neighborhood as quietly as possible...is the noise level okay? My Shoei x-11 helmet is fairly noisy..and at 80 mph on the freeway it is not good...I am working on the noise level now...but I was wondering how the alien pipes are for noise at freeway speed? I love the look and have heard the sound bytes. I am an older guy so not a racer type...but I do love performance and the look of the aliens.

Second question is how much weight did you save by going to your new wheels? Did you notice a handling performance change with the wheels? Are those magnesium or aluminum?

thanks for your time KS...2hip

Welcome 2hip....

I moved your questions here and started a new thread for you... The thread you were originally replying to is a grouping of pictures by lots of folks here on the oRg. Not just the bugs bike, so hopefully will get an answer to your question shortly.

I'm leaning heavily toward the AH as well... I love the look too, but am concerned about being too loud... can't wait to hear the answer..

Loud is relative I think it sounds great, at low rpm not loud at all but above 6000 rpm it gets pretty loud. Definetly louder then Yosh more of a lower growl versus the higher pitch Yosh. AH is for sure more quiet then just about any after market Harley exhaust if that helps.

I had one on my 99. VERY loud. I sold it and went with the StreetSmart can. Too much noise for me.

A/H is loud, but when you're on it you won't care, and if you're actually trying to be mellow you can squeeze by. Look at your mix of riding. If you do a significant amount of semi-relaxed riding, you might want to pick another pipe. Oh, and light wheels can make a very noticable difference. But a number of popular a/m wheels aren't lighter than stock. In general, for the same expenditure, lots of other mods have more bang for the buck. If I didn't have more projects than money to complete them, wheels would be on my list.

I just put the A/H on my 08, and its pretty loud...... but i love it though  if your not a drag racer or at least after that style, i would suggest, reading from your pots here to run the short CAN GEN3(same exact header design). that way you still have a GREAT sounding and performing exhaust system, plus you would still get the AWESOME "SPOT ON" brock maps  just my:2cents:

I have the street meg on my 02 and recently rode it about 200 miles and my ears were ringing for at least an hour after we were done. i love the pipe at the track baffle out. and even around town. but for long rides i hate it.. the alien head is even louder . (when i have the baffle in) ... the look of the ah if awesome.

i will get the g3 short can for my 08.. i think it is the best of both worlds . ... louder than the g3 can but not quite as loud as the short megs.
