Where can I find, for a new bike, what the dealer pays for the bike (cost), vs. retail.

Edmunds.com does it for autos.

I want to know how much to pay for a 2006 Limited with the Pearl-White paint.  Dealer is asking $10300, and I saw $9500 on the internet (different state).

my buddy got his 06 le for 10200 (IOWA) but you can find the regular busa for around 9500 so you have to decide if you want to pay the extra 700 to 800 for the pearl???

With bikes, its still like the pre-internet days for cars. Only the dealers know.

Good price if out the door. 9500 out of state you get home and tax, title and plate will put you right back in that ballpark.

I'm pretty good friends with a local dealer here and he told me a last year when I bought my 05 LE that the LE's were an additional $200.

If you can get an LE for $10K or less plus T&T, it's a great deal. The dealer has to make some money to stay in business. You can pretty much figure 20% below retail is dealer cost. The dealer can't go much below 10% over his cost and stay in business. So just fugure the math and go from there.

That's a good bunch of info to work with.
Retail (according to Motorcyclist) is $11300, less 20% =
$9040 cost to dealer.

11300 less 10% = 10170 (lowest dealer can go).

Dealer has $10300 hanging on the bar end.

Then, add tax,title,license, etc.

Hmmm.

i paid 10,200 plus ttl and warranty and stuff for my 05 back in september. couldnt argue... they didnt have the bike i wanted and nobody local did, so they had to get it shipped in from out of state

Go to cyclebuy.com. Not free but accurate invoice including holdback and other info.

Try AAA. Lamb just bought a new car and the dealer has to show you there invoice. They show the invoice, add $300 and that's your price! Lamb doesn't know if they have this program for bikes though!
