How to engage Hill Hold?

Reading through the owners manual it's not clear to me how you engage hill hold. Does it engage automatically on a hill, can you engage it manually? I love HH on my BMW and you simply squeeze the brake lever or pedal to engage HH and it can be engaged on a flat road or hill. Thanks

Automatic if turned on in the settings. Just have to engage rear brake for it to set.
