How to lower busa?

Hello all,

I'm a bit on the short side...5'4". that measns I can't flat-foot the busa (or many other sports bikes). This is a bit of a problem and I'd like to get info on lowering the bike about 1" - 1.5". That's all I'd need to have both feet flat and be comfortable. Any idea how this would be accomplished? I'll be having the dealership do it, I just need to describe to them ow I want them to go about since they looked at me with blank stares when I brought it up. I'v been riding the busa for well over a year (over 23,000 miles since June '04), so this has been a long time in coming.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,

You should lower front/rear the same amount so it still handles somewhat normal... If you just drop the back with dog bones 2", you will be close to putting feet down I would imagine, but it will feel a little ackward in the twisties...

Depending on how long your legs are... If you are close, you could just do a tobin seat and that would give you another 1" closer to the ground...

You need dog bones in the back and triple clam in the front. If You don't want to buy triple clam,You can use longer bolts(4) and onekind of raisers(4) under the bottom plate.

I want to drop it the same in the front and back... I don't want to ride to feel wierd. This is to make things better, not worse.

What are triple clams? I'm not familiar with them. Also, I know what dog bones are, but where can I find some meant to lower the bike? I haven't had to do this sort of thing before so I don't know where to get parts like these.

I'm definately getting a Tobin seat. But I want to have a backup plan if it doesn't take it down enough.

Triple clamp is what Agostini meant. There are a couple ways to lower the front. One is with straps (not recommended for street riding) and the other is with an adjustable triple clamp. Dogbones can be found from most of the vendors here on the board (StreetnTrack, etc.) to lower from 1" to 3" on triple-hole or you can get some completely adjustable ones (more expensive).

Hey .. i got my parts to lower my busa from this guy on ebay .. Hes Very Good and the prices arent bad at all ... He carries the Dog bones and the Triple tree.. he might even have the adjustable Kickstand that will be necessary when you lower your bike too

I had the dealer lower my bike 1" with a lowering link. I am 5'4" also and this seems to make a big difference for me. I did not lower the front at all and I guess I don't notice any problems with cornering. What would it feel like in the twisties if it was a problem?
