Anyt tricks of the trade for cutting the notches in the hump so you can run with the grabrail and the hump?

Yep, I used a dremel also and just cut out a little at a time so that I didn't cut out too much. Be careful of flying melted plastic though.

What they said. Attach the rail to bike. Lay hump over top of it to mark your first cut. Cut off less then you originally think is safe. You can always cut off more, but cant put back what is already missing. I had 2-4 trips back and forth to the bike for trial fittings. Light sand on the cut corners. Not on the painted finish.

Not hard at all, just take your time. Dremel will melt the plastic as it cut it. Careful you don't get hit in eye and such with flying hot plastic. It's not going to just fling all over. maybe not at all. Just a heads up. Glasses is a great safety thing to have.

Hey guys: Thanks for all the messages on how I should cut out the hump for the grabrail. this is a great board to be a part of, lots of help from people who have done a project. I'll post some pics as soon as I get it done. BTW I also have a 06 Limited.....Love it.

What if you tape the area you will be grinding? I think this will help some of the flaking, just a thought.

That is a good idea, I use the blue painters tape so it peels off easy after the work is done.

Don't think its really needed. Will help you see the marks you make is all. Won't hurt either so...

Dremmil and a zip bit or a cutting wheel. I like the zip bit cause it wont run off and cut the plastic. Cut from the inside with a cutting wheel.

Go slow, as said above, you can always cut more, but you can't put it back.

Dremel will cut through the plastic like butter so its just a matter of patience.

Should turn out nice for you. Post pics when you're done.

Whats really handy is to use a piece of cardboard and cut out an outline that exactly fits around the grab rail. Then figure out where the grabrail fits into the hump. Trace an outline onto the hump and use a dremel tool to cut away. Less is better, like other members have said! Good luck!!!!
