hump & passenger hold on bar mod

I've seen a lot of you guys with your hump still on and the safety/passenger hold on bar still on. I know one buddy who cut his appropriatley and made enough room so he was able to fit the bar on with the hump. Is that what you guys did. If so, I guess I'll use a dremmel sp. tool to do it. Just not sure, but that's why I'm asking, I don't have the money to buy an aftermarket but want the look. Thanks in advance.

Thats what we did. Just take your time and only take what is needed. You can always cut more but you cant put it back!

Yup, that's what we did !! BUT....MAKE SURE THAT'S WHAT YOU REALLY WANT TO DO !! I did it because I was tired of having to put it on, and take it off everytime my wife wanted to go with me (riding solo I like the way the cowl looks better). I'm no longer with my wife, but probably would still do it, I like the way it looks ??

Don't know how to explain this...but, when you sit the cowl on the bike to mark where you need to cut, it's at the wrong angle, I learned that the hard way :stoopid:

Did anybody do it another way, like just measure the distance ?

Thanks fellas, I was about to get started cutting but read the last post. If that's the case, I'm just gonna wait a sec, and listen for what I need to hear on here, about the proper angle and what kennym4 is talking about. I would really hate to F it up. thanks, and waiting for reply.

Put the grab bar on then apply masking tape. Mark where the bar is, then remove the bar. Next put the cowl on and transfer the marks to tape applied to the cowl. You should have your vertical marks. Make your vertical cuts short then start your horizontal cuts. Go slow and creep up on your final fit. It will be a lot of "put it on, take it off". Good luck.

thanks djorgensen3 and everyone else as well. I'll give it a shot tomorrow and let you know how it went. I'm not too much of a dumbass, I should be able to hook this up. Always smart though, to get advise before taking anything on you've never done before. thanks again.

Just did this yesterday following these directions. Too easy; it took me about 30 minutes with multiple installs to get final fit. I'll get some pics up the next time it's not raining outside.

my dremmel went boom and im to lazy to drive the 2 miles to walmart to swap it out looks like this mod will wait cause of pure lazyness
