Hurricane Milton check in

Florida members please check in. Want to make sure people are ok and see if any help is needed. We did ok and family is fine. Milton destroyed my sister’s fence, ripped some shingles off her new home and, tons of debris to clean up at my house but blessed to be able To say it wasn’t any worse, considering the heart wrenching damage in the area and amount of rain. Roads closed because complete roofs are laying on the road, our stadium’s roof is gone and wind even tipped of empty 45ft containers. Lost power with the first strong gusts around 5:30pm on Wednesday and generator has been humming along since I had enough fuel to get me by for several days. Linemen are working very hard to clear power lines of trees and replacing broken poles. Lines for fuel are ridiculous and brother spent 4hrs in line last night to fill the car and get 10gls to run a generator. I have to say, I haven’t heard wind howling like this since I moved out of the Caribbean.

Hi. I am glad that you and your famley are all OK. And i hope for the best for everyone.

Glad you fared out relatively OK.....

Quite an experience to live through.....

I haven't heard from my sister in Dade City......hopefully she's ok.....
Thanks! Cell service is extremely unreliable right now and we are communicating with some friends and family via text and takes several tries to go through. Internet is back to live in our area so was able to turn on our router and access the forum using our WiFi. My friend lives on a large pond in Dade city and I was very nervous for him since water level went up by 7-8 feet and was inches from coming in his house and neighbor was already thigh high inside the house. I wanted to bring him some supplies but takes 5-6 times the usual time to get anywhere so you burn through fuel fast. If you need someone to check on your sister let me know since I know a couple of people in Dade city that are avid off-roaders and maybe can make their way to her place with one of their off road rigs to check on her. Tons of trees and downed power lines everywhere.

Much appreciated....

My other sister heard from her this morning and she said the same as you, cell service was down but now they have internet so she sent a message to my other sister to let us all know she's ok...

I think I will take our cold climate over warm and hurricanes any day.....that doesn't look fun at all....

This hurricane definitely earned a place in Tampa’s history books.
I was just saying earlier that I would like to know how many northerners will pack up and head back to where they came from after this. I’ve been through some nasty ones and know what it feels like to lose power for a month but this one was one hell of an introduction to hurricanes for those that have never been through one. My main concern now is what is about to happen to the already ridiculous insurance rates. A friend lost 2 vehicles due to flooding and the tow truck driver was in a rush to load them up because he had 3,000 vehicles on his pick up list.

I’m in Central Florida and in a very rare part of the state where we have some hills to help with winds but that’s all we got really. Took the power out for a few days and blew debris all around. Took me 4hrs to get my yard back to normal and have the blisters to show for it!
Took the Busa around the neighborhood on Friday to check things out and there are trees down and limbs blown everywhere but I think we faired pretty good!
Waiting on 60+ to chime in as I hear his area was hit a bit harder.
Getting ready for the next one to hit SW Florida is what the news says.
