I've seen some folks using these on various rides and thought it was a good idea. My problem, having not really used one in a long time is how would it really work on the bike. The other part, with this somewhat unknown is the price of entry being a barrier. Thats been kinda reduced, Bike Nashbar has put them on sale... some of which rediculously cheap.

Have a look here

Thoughts? I'm considering getting one but not sure on the model I would want.

One better, if you're like me and hate having something on your back. I got a Rapid Transit Recon tank bag-came with a zippered pouch the size of the bag floor that velcro's to the bottom, and holds a hydration bladder. I got a Bota Bladder that holds I think 40 0z, the tank bag has a hole to pull the tube through and a clip on the outside to hold it where it's easy to grab when riding.

I fill the bag 1/3rd full and freeze it, then fill before a ride and ice-cold spring water for about two-three hours!! The pouch in the bottom holds any condensate drips, so bag contents stay dry.

Definitely a good deal! I have a few Camelbacks that I use. Only the 70 oz. though.

So do you guys also ride with depends adult diapers on, since you r drinking all that water.

nah, just dont ride slower than the guy thats been drinkin all the water... LOL

actually at the last bash, I drank piles of water at each stop and didnt really p all day... sweating like a fiend all day riding... these look easier than having to keep a bottle in the bag or hump

I pulled the trigger on a few... one for me and the girlfriend

I hate having to stop riding simply to wet my mouth on hot days .... should work out nicely.

Anyone got the link to the tank bag solution?

CamelBack - works when crossing the sand box over to Vegas in the summer.... which I do quite often.

I have a couple of camel backs that I use for mountain biking, kayaking and hiking. They work well. They could be put inside a regular backpack or even a tank bag if it was larger.

Sounds like I may be alone here but I tried this last summer and gave up. I bought a bladder at Walmart ($10) and couldn't make the straight bite valve work with the chin bar in my helmet. So I bought a Camel back 90 degree bite valve and installed it but it still far too close to my chin bar ( Arai Corsair) to use reliably. I could see using this on one of those flip up BMW style helmets, but for my jaw to chin bar situation it was a no go.

Rapid Transit Recon 19 at NewEnough

GREAT bag, turns into a backpack, or just hang over a shoulder.
Has anyone used both the Recon and the Cortech super 18? I have seen the Cortech and it is very nice but more $$ then the Recon. Is it worth it?

excellent... looks like you ahve to provide the hydration system? think the spring is going to be $$$ for the bike

Those look pretty cool and easily convert to a shoulder pack, but how much space is there inside?

Pair of tennies, shirt, shorts, clean underwear, tire gauge-then a lot of flat stuff in the two side pockets!

The shape is great, you can still tuck in. Never ride without mine, too handy to have water, snacks, extra layer or jacket liner, oh yeah, a spare visor lines the front of the bag and takes NO room, just a u-shape holding the sides rigid...
