So a friend I was in the Marine Corps with invited me to his retirement ceremony in NC. He served 30 years and was a Sgt Major.

I drove down Thursday night leaving Massachusetts at 6pm. Got to Cherry Point NC at 8am. Go to the ceremony at 9.

Left around 10:30 and drove back to Massachusetts. Arrived home around 11:30pm last night.

26hrs roundabout of driving. 1490 miles. Woke up at 8am and worked on the bike. Lol I’m tired.
Some pics. I’m on the left. Sgt Major center. Other buddy I served with in 1995.

That's quite a trip and equates to the kind of person you are to do it for such a worthy cause.

It's a great thing to retire after 30 yrs and as a Sgt-Major....been there and got that tee shirt myself.

Well done to your friend, he deserves a good rest now.

That’s me, but I wasn’t at Quantico. That tattoo is of a photograph I took at the Natural history museum in Washington DC about 7 years ago.

Cool maybe somebody had the same idea as you. I didnt remember the face but I remembered the tatt on the hand. And I know all about them power road trips...starting to get a harder than they used to be a few years back lol.[/QUOTE]

Yes there were tons of people there. He had people from all aspects of his life. His high school friends, and someone from just about every place he worked with from the 30 yrs. He was a great leader, and taught me quite a bit about leadership. It showed in the people who came to celebrate with him.

I havent seen him or my other friend in 22 years.
