2002 FALCON

Yes I searched until my fingers bled. I will explain this as easily and as clearly as possible. I bought a mint one owner 15000 mile 2002 midnight Falcon Hayabusa. Rode it for a three miles around my complex before I got it all legal. Everything was okay throttle response at low and wasn't great but nothing to complain about it was running on all four. Then it fell off the kickstand when I was getting ready to wash it and scratched up the fairing so I sent it to my friend's Body Shop the insurance covered it they painted it and delivered it to me the other day. I want to pick it up and riding at home cuz it's finally legal anything below 4000 RPM this thing is running on two cylinders it feels like. But as soon as you hit 3900 RPM's it's off like a rocket totally runs and feels completely normal. No there is no body shop duster dirt they wrap the thing in plastic and sealed it up with tape while they were painting it. I just don't understand this bike has been nothing but a good time problem since the day I got it and now I get to go ride it on a holiday weekend and I can't even good time ride it. I'm so pissed off right now

The funny thing is every time I find a thread after I searched that's pretty close to my issue nobody ever posts a good time cure what the hell?

15,000 miles is nothing for a Busa, but it means the bike has been exposed to a lot of down time with fuel in it for 20 years. Then there is the question if it is stock, or whether someone had their hands on it, which could mean anything goes.

First thing you want to do is clean the entire fuel system, from the tank to the fuel pump to the injectors.

If you are not technically able, putting some Wins, or STP fuel cleaner in the tank may make a difference after riding around three tanks to empty, but if it was my bike I will service and rebuild the entire fuel system as needed.

+1
Cuz you gotta start somewhere with an issue like this. This approach troubleshoots fueling issues, and solves the prob if it is a fueling issue

Definitely sounds like the usual fuel issues, when u buy a bike that's 20 years old and only has 20k on it is Definitely gonna have sat around and with the fuel we have now it wreaks havoc on the fuel system. @SSGT_B has a thread where he just did the fuel mod on his. If your capable of doing that work it should take care of your issues.

Yep, sounds about right....unless the bike was placed into long term preservation, sitting is hard on the fuel system...

First thing to look at is the insides of the fuel tank . . is it rusty at all?
If it is, the fuel system will need a full overhaul as stated in previous posts.
If the inside of the tank looks in good condition, then lift the fuel tank and check the fuel pressure if you're able and equipped to do so.
If not, get someone that knows how to, to do the job.
The other thing to look at is the spark plugs, coils and coil connector plugs.
But if you're not experienced in this field, just take it to a good reputable mechanic that does know how to do all these checks.
All the best with your Busa journey!

I reflected on this last night and can see how this could get under your skin...

You can't blame the bike for falling over, and if you can take a bit of advice....when buying a used anything there are in inherent risks you take...as things sit, seals dry out, fuel gums up, brake pistons seize, etc, etc..when going into a deal like this expect to do a complete overhaul and tune up before riding the bike.

For instance, if you had done that, you'd be out enjoying what we already know as an awesome bike.

change your spark plugs!

Modern fuel goes off real quick, I run Klotz octane booster and conditioner in my cars and the bike, it not only increases Octane but holds it steady for a lot longer than the fuel as it comes which actually loses some octane points almost daily

Seems like our Falcon boy has gone missing in action. Four posts, asks for help, we all give advice we can and there is no response.
Maybe he's got it fixed and is too busy out riding it.......??

I'm finding if people aren't going into the new owners thread and introducing themselves, they have no real interest in being here other than getting the specific information they are seeking...

Well when you buy an old bike why wouldn't you expect it to be like a brand new recent model? NOT! I'm guessing he gave up on her and it will sit for another 10 years,
