I FORGOT THE MOTORHEAD!!

As my senses return from the Mass weekend ride, I realized that my bike runs very well, thank you. 6800 miles, plugs have never been out, small airbox mod, all long stacks, stock filter, stock gearing. Rider weighs 230 in an indecent condition.
Hapo's bike has 42 tooth rear sprocket, DYMAG carbon fiber rims, and lighter brakes. If eight pounds is one horsepower, he should have around eight horsepower on me if bikes were stock, not counting reduction in rotating weight. Hapo is NOT noticeably faster than me in a straight line.
gsx1300rguy's bike has Yosh cams and exhaust, installed properly (I heard three dyno runs mentioned) and will pull me and Hapo to around 150. It did cost, however, 100 TIMES what two long stacks and airbox cutting cost.
Thank you again for a very cost effective mod with the research behind it to show the difference. I do have some interest in doing the full airbox mod, but filtration is an issue. Hapo and I rode thru some dust storms on the way back Saturday that make me wonder if 90% of stock filtration is enough.

you can opt for the green foam by uni.this one will trap any thing imaginable and is used in motocross by a friend.it works great.when you get the full airbox mod you'll pull more and if you map tou'll pull even better'seal the box where it meets the frame will help up top too.good luck!

Motocrossed 11 years foam filters do work.
Where can I source a sheet of the stuff? That airbox to frame seal is done, I think maybe some gains can be made there as stock alignment seems to be all over the place. Maybe bellmouthing airbox at frame juncture?
Old MX innertube section is a great seal around this area.
I love horsepower. I REALLY love cheap horsepower.

Yo Tinhead! You check out my latest edition to the "weekend" post?(not the one about eggs)

My bike should be faster than a stock bike by virtue of the wheels and all, but I got a 40 tooth sprocket...I like the stock gear ratios...it seemed like no one who was willing(and able..please be careful!)to twist the throttle was getting left behind, though...

Directly above the center of the Earth at wknight@snet.net. Hapo that was bad info about your bike on my part. I have problems remembering what's on mine.
