do you guys know if the voodoo shorty exhaust is a good one? i like the look of not having 2 big cans on the side and i think it would be nice and loud. it looks like to me that it's just good looking straight pipes and that's it, if that's true then can't i just save the money and go out and buy some pipe and fit them on myself? the other thing....the intake cam. i've heard by installing an intake that you gain up to 15-20 horse. does anyone know if that's true

thanks for any info

also, will it do any harm if i take the stock cans off and run just the midpipes? if there's any reduction in torque and horse, can't i just go and get it remapped?

mid pipes only? hope you like riding alone.... these bikes are too fast to be drawing excess attention from the LEO's... (not to mention the loud bikes tend to reflect poorly on sport bikes in general)

you might need some tuning work if you make such a change..(and ear plugs)

Your not geting 15-20 by swapping intake/exhaust.  I picked up 4 Hp on a bike with 8K miles

If you're going to do it I would swap them when you go in for valve check/service...takes the mechanic about the same amount of time and will save you some $$.

You will also want a set of adjustable cam gears (1 on the exhaust is mandatory) and Power Commander.

If you budget allows there are better choices for cams. For one the intake is not cut exactly the same as the exhaust cam. Mountain motor posted some pictures to show the difference. I'm not saying the intake on the exhaust will not work, but increased wear could be an issue because of it. A proper cam will be ground on an exhaust blank.

I think 15-20 horsepower with a stock header and exhaust cam is out of reach.

hey thanks for the post and info guys. about the midpipes.... will running the bike without cans burn up the valves or is the effects just the loudness?

Don't know about running without the cans (why?). Cost for the cam deal was 100.00 for a used intake and labor was 150.00 to check and shim both intake and exhaust.

You can also swap your intake to exhaust and then install a Web 378 cam on intake - I did this in mine. Even that probably won't gain you 15 hp - plus you'll need bigger springs and adjustable cam sprox like Professor said.

Forget losing the cans though - I don't think it will affect anything except your hearing.

Swap your intake cam onto the exhaust side?? Really? Anyway, I was searching for a cam set that would help me build more low end torque. I really don't care about going 180mph, but I would like the thing to pull like a V-max around town. Does anyone know a set of cams that would help here? Thanks.

That's what the intake cam swap is: putting an intake cam on your exhaust side so that you are running two intake cams.

Trying to make your I-4 act like a V-4 is going to be impossible. Besides, Vmaxs might be torquey but they're slow as heck.
