How can you tell if this mod is already done? I purchased my bike used and the previous owner beat it with a money stick, it may have been done, but how do you tell?

You can take it off and try to collapse it. If it will move in with very little effort, it hasn't been done. But like BA said, just do it.
You could tell if you know some one with a stock dampener that has NOT been Mod. The dampener Mod will stiffen the dampener more than the stock. So feel them both and if you dampener is tighter than the stock one chance are it has been done. Your second option is call or email the previos owner and ask him if it had been done. Then if he says that it has not ben done then DO THE MOD.

Not sure if the previous owner was a board member or not. I know he didnt beat it too bad for being over 2 years old and only having 2600 miles on her.
