well I am not feeling the cover repair at all..... but understand the costs of buying replacements.. (I think you can get a new stator cover for $50 or so.. )

good fix. your pics are proof that the stator cover can easily damaged and having some protection over might be worth it. here's what i have on mine.

That protection does not do well on the track if you go in for track days.. I think Skydvr had that one? gave him trouble when it touched down in a corner during hard cornering.. (if it is the same one)

The important thing is you riding it again  But not feeling the paint an patch work could be I am a little anal. so don't mind me

Not to bust on your slider there but,, a friend of mine had the same one!

The damage from his crash, ended up with a set of engine cases!
When the slider broke the bolts ripped the case apart!

So with that said, the best cover to replace with is a Billet one!

you mean those long tiny bolts wont withstand a 500+ lbs bike sliding across the pavement

No-no. The cover was intact - it's the protective piece of metal which took the hit - which in turn prevented destroying the cover and leaking oil - I rode away after the get off. I simply replaced protective piece of metal with even stronger one, so if it ever happens again, the cover survives and I can ride away.

The more expensive alternative is to buy an aftermarket ones like Woodcraft, but those are pricey, and once they are ground, it's better to replace them anyway - another pricey purchase.

Anyone lowsided with those? What was the outcome? IIRC, I've read some stories that the bolts got bent. I could be mistaken.
