I need Bodywork help

I am installing a 6-8inch over swing arm on my bike and what I want to do is extend the back end of my rear fender plastic, over the swingarm. I want something like my seat>***** pad>then rear hump in that order so the only thing that would be extended is the hump behind the ***** pad. That way I have both seats then the new hump will hang over the extension. I was wondering if anybody can help me with this one?
I am waiting for Sharkskinz to get back to me.

For those of you who are trying to decifer what I said what I want is the Solo Seat>***** Pad>then Cowling.

One more time, geez.......
Solo Seat, Chick pad, then cowling so I have all three instead of the chick pad or the cowling. This should extend my plastic over my extended swingarm nicely.

Turtle I think you can do this fairly easily and tastefully, but there's no way around the project adding 11" to your seat/tail cowl length if you need to keep the chick seat.

1. Remove the seat/tail cowl to expose the supporting frame.

2. Extend the seat cowl supporting frame by adding 11" STARTING FROM THE BACK of the frame so as to retain the full stock weight bearing capacity of your rider and pillion seats.

3. Buy a salvaged (or new if you're rich) seat cowling.

4. Cut your existing seat cowl cross-wise just in front of the key slot for the hump.

5. Overlay, cut and mount your salvaged/new tailpiece with hump and fair it into the existing cowling.

This way, you don't compromise the current structure's strength, and your main challenge is really just the aesthetics of the body work. God knows you can hire pros for that.

Sharkskinz say they can do it but they would need to have the bike there. I asked them if I can could just send the seat and tail section. I am waiting for them to get back to me. Florida is a long way from Minnesota. I am a little apprehensive about starting the job myself, but after further examination it can be done. I am definitely going to go with a 9inch over arm. I measured everything and the longer arm would work better for this application.

Thanks Pete,
I am looking into that now maybe I will have to go with a Nine inch over, I think this will look very cool.. Escpecially when I travel with a chick on back. I think we all know the Busa is a chick magnet.

Best of luck Turtle. You'll sure have one seriously unique looking motorcycle.

You'll be the only guy ever who can take a passenger into the low 10s in comfort!

Please keep us posted on your progress!

Hey DP,

I found a guy who can do this and he is basically doing what you recommended. I can't wait to see the finished product. Oh and get this the rear cowl will still be removalble, so if I wanted to I could opt to put two passenger seats on the bike. Oh God I am sick!!!!
This ain't going to be cheap.

Two chicks on one bike, I'm liking it!! Oh Yeah the shuttle fee is free because I only ride chicks. Oh and by the way Mike, You will be the first to have a pic of my bike when it is done, due to the fact that you requested pics of the bike after I painted it Red and white. I also have another suprise that you will see this spring. Pete you will also get a pic. It might have to be sent the old fashioned way Via-mail. I will keep you guys posted!

Just wondering what you were going to use lamenate the two pieces together ? The only thing I've seen that works well on plastics is Fusor brand two part adhesives . You might want to just borrow the gun that dispenses the product from a bodyshop .Dont think fiberglass and resin will as well. Sounds like a killer bike !!! My two denaros.

Hey boys and girls! Look at Shark skins bodywork! Oh is Kent Riches at Airtech doing a tailsecion for 4" and 8" over swingarms!! Glee. Christmas is early this year!!!

Hey Gang,
Just an update on my tail section. The first guy screwed it up big time. Now I'm going to have to start all over again.
I talked to Max at airtech and they could do it for 230.00 an hour which would require 25-40 hours to complete. ummmmm I don't think that's a feasible option. So it looks like I'm going to have to do it my self, wish me luck.

P.S The Airtech tail extension for the Busa is a Solo rider only if I understood him correctly.

There might can be something made out of carbon or i might can get a dealer price on something especially made for your bike.
