I went to the track

I ran the bike a few weeks ago. I had some ugly clutch problems,it would not slip at all. So i installed the brocks ultra clutch mod (good stuff) and went back thursday night. I had a new problem, didn't shift into 5th (i stabbed the button a few times) The bike ran well,129.33 at the 1/8. I was on and off the limiter in 4th, it went 9.081 @ 153.44

I just took a look at the bike and found a few things.
The stud that the shift lever mounts on,was loose and dry. I cleaned and greased everything up,feels a little smoother now.

sprayin?

I have had the same problem shifting from 5th to 6th using my airshifter (obviously not in the 1/4 though) - happened twice yesterday on a long ride.

Still haven't gotten mine to the track - a few more things to do first.

You've gotta be happy with that time, right? Sounds like you'll be in the 8's next time you run.

Yes,very happy with the bike. Kind of funny how i spent hours on reducing drag and a poorly maintained shift linkage gets me.

It's seems like in racing there is always something you didn't think of - and at least greasing the shift linkage is a ten minute fix. In fact I'm gonna go check mine before todays ride.

Maybe you should look into some Vortex or other brand of rearsets. Most all have bearings on the shift - you'd never get binding on them. This might be all the justification you need - and I know how you like to spend money anyway ...

Yes,sprayin...  .040 jet
The air that night was the stuff that drag racers dream about.

I have been back a few times and have not even come close to that et. Last full pass was 9.25 @ 153.

The basic combination is there....
I have had some trouble in several areas. The shifter was a mess,i just went back to seperate bottles for the shifter and the spray. The line from the switch valve to the ram is now just under 6''(it was close to a foot)

The clutch  With the brock's ultra mod the clutch is releasing flawlessly. With the stock springs and brock spacers it was pushing through the clutch a little. I now have 4 brock springs and 2 stock springs with the spacers. It still feels nice and smooth.

Map. The map that i was using was to rich off the bottom. Since i like to stage as low as posible, the map has to be crisp. I am now using the brock street map. I can feel and see (pipe color) the difference.

Gearing.  I wanted  to get myself a little more into the groove, before i started pileing on gear. I started with 17-41/42. The bike really needs more gear at both ends. It is a little lazy coming out and i am just shifting in to 5th. Next time out i will be 17- 44.

A trouble free nine o pass would be nice.

Amazing the difference after the Brocks ultra clutch mod, huh? One of the best mods I've made. I'm running all Brocks springs though - and if I'm in traffic very long the clutch pull gets kinda old.

17-44 is what I've settled on as well.

Yes,that ultramod is nice. Now if i could just twist it....

Those 2 green springs are stiff, more like valve springs.

 Way to stiff for me.

Through a trade i will be getting a new set of 40 lb schnitz springs. I will try them in place of the stockers.

Man that spray hits hard in 2nd with that gearing. A 1000 lb's of presure didn't hurt either.
