Ignition switch lubrication?

What have you found to work best to keep the ignition switch working smoothly? After being exposed to a couple of heavy rainstorms, my baby's ignition switch has started to be fussy about letting me insert the key far enough to turn from steering lock to on. I've thought about a modern light gun oil, such as RemOil, but I do not know if that would be safe.
Please help.

I've used WD-40 on mine, lubricate the key then insert...

Graphite. It's dry and won't attract dust like oils will.
