I found this immobilizer key warning on page 2-72 of the owner’s manual:

Owner's manuals are regional. You are in the US but he is in Canada. Other countries have had immobilizers and chipped keys in various bikes for a long time while the US may still not have them for the same bike.

recognizable by the small led next to the lock

technically the immo is a sheere nonsense - if there are 4 stronger guys they easily can carry the bike away by hands
the best anti thiev installation is a ground ring founded in concrete in the earth plus the strongest chain.

with the fitting software + interface one can programm this funtion off the ecu - my brother said and did.
