Hi all,

New to the forum, but not new to the addiction. I have finally come to the point where I am ready to purchase a Hayabusa. I recently found a 2000 for sale on Craigslist and when I contacted the seller he had the following to say about the bike. 14000 miles, recently spent $1000.00 to prepare it for sale (tires, brakes, fork seals...didn't give me the complete list)... He said that it will most likely need an oil pump, oil pump "O" ring (which he has), and one "other" part that he said would cost ~ $100.00. He is asking $5500 for the bike. Does anyone see any red flags?? I am going to see the bike on Monday. According to the seller it is in mint condition and the only upgrade done was a slipon exhuast. Any insight/opinions you have would be great! Even if I don't buy this bike, I am looking forward to joining the ranks.

Thanks in advance for the help,

jj

Needs a oil pump raises flags with me. Why spenp $1k getting it ready to sell and then needs "minor repair".

I agree with everyone else.. Lot of red flags flying there.. Take your time and find a bike thats right for you. It really sounds like this one needs too much work to be in mint condition. I found my bike on craigslist but it was a 1999 with under 3000 miles on it. I knew the minute I saw it that it was #1 a good deal and #2 the bike for me. (see pic below). I had to travel to San Francisco from L.A. to pick it up around 8hrs. one way but it was well worth it. Check the sellers fourm here also but like I said before take your time and you will find the right one........

I just thought I would add my .02.  I am a new BUSA owner.  I just paid $8700 for a brand new 2007. I believe the GEN II Busa that has come out has the dealerships nervous that the left over 2007 won't sell.  I would check with your local dealership and throw a low ball offer at them for a 2007.  You just might be suprised at what you get.  And just think I got this one with ZERO miles for only $2k more than the one you were looking at.

+1, I got mine for 8,015 otd in September. Welcome to the org. and good luck with your decision!

Thanks everyone....It sounded strange, so I figured I would ask for opinions. Definitely going to be taking the advice given...I'll start hitting the dealers and see what happens....Thanks for the input!

Take your time, you will find the right one. I purchased Sally used from my local dealer. She was just a little less than a brand new 07, but she is an 05 and had only 2800 some odd miles on her. She was also beat with a money stick too, so mods were minimal. Good luck!
