Well I installed my gauges, and it happend 2 time so far about 4 days appart. When I start the bike the needled do the start check and then do it again, resetting the clock. What could be a problem, I installed the 35w from DDM, and the balasts are on the instake tube. Any clues?

I have witnessed the same thing on my bike. I cannot say that it happens very frequently; however, this never happened until I replaced the stock low-beam with a HID.

You need to move the hid ballast wires away from the dash! I have heard about this, never had it happen to me. It is putting out an RFI signal that maybe interferrng with the dash.

This problem has been reported two or three other times that I know of. It is unique to the DDM SLIM ballasts. The other member who I discussed this with (and has 10x more experience then me) is at a loss as to why this happens. Something about the slim ballasts and their mounting location that upsets the gauges at times.

For all the DDM units being used out there....this issue is few & far between though. Wish I could be of more help.

*edit* Sounds like WarBird is on the right track. I'd try relocating them as well.

trying the diff. starting technique people have mentioned. or put a delay inline.

i believe the ballast draws too much power when starting and powering the lights

ill see if it continues, i do start it differently. i do start button then key then clutch

Don't forget to ground the metal backing on the slim ballast. It will help reduce some of the parasitic EMI. Mine did the same thing today. After I grounded the backplate the dash works perfectly.

Like Truwrecks said, ground it better. Sounds like where you have the ballasts the EMI is interfering with the speedo signal. If you push the starter button while riding for a few seconds it will cut the lights out.. then you can see if the speedo comes alive.

How do i ground it, what do i need?

After my HID's were installed Mine was having a similar issue. I have since moved the wiring to the outside of the intake tube. At the same time I removed all power then cleaned the terminal ends on the battery and cables(just cause I couldnt figure out the problem). Low and behold the problem is no more, not sure which did it, but that is all I did to get mine to work right..

P.S. hold your tongue out the side of your mouth and occasionally curse like a sailor as you fight with wires.

This is the way i do mine also. I have not had any trouble like this yet but my clock will not stay set now. It has been this way since i installed the hid system. Good luck
