i will be replacing the stock rods on my 01 busa with carrillo rods and je turbo piston, do i have to replace the rod big end bearing or can i use the ones from the stock rods, as long as i keep them in the same location?

since you are replacing the rods you have to replace the rod bearings with new ones. how many miles you have on the bike? you might want to check your crankshaft too, just to be at the safe side.

sorry couldn't get to you earlier. i would replace the rod bearings. just don't forget to plaqstic gage the bearings.

I would install new bearings. The chances the Carrillo big end being the same as the OEM rod would be slim. Not to mention, what is alittle time and $40 for piece of mind.

I would plastigauge the crank as well (like badassbusa said). The rod bearings are the same as the oil and water cooled GSXR 1100's.

what is the best way to remove the starter clutch on the busa with the engine apart.. i don't have the suzuki starter clutch tool...

I just hope you are having someone help you put this back together!!!!!!!!!! you are asking rookie engine building question..

to answer the starter clutch one a Mikita will do it or an air gun

no! not the cover the one way starter clutch, service manual says to use the starter clutch holder to keep it from turning ad remove the nut,,

Carrillo Hayabusa rod big end bores are always #1s. Always use new bearings and plastigage the. We give Plastigage with every set of rods we sell.  http://www.hayabusazone.com/rods.html

The bearing selection done by the service manual is correct more than 95% of the time, it is that other small percent that can cost you LARGE if you don't check them.

We never install any rod on any crank without plastigaging them.
