Internal workings of the busa motor

Is anyone able to post up a crosscut drawing of a busa motor (from a service manual or something) so I can get a better idea of how it's setup in there. I do a lot of high performance car work and am curious to see how suzuki set it up. I'm almost ashamed to say I don't even know if the busa's have overhead cams or what.

motor is pretty much like a car, yes it has OHC... and it is obviously an inline 4 not a V... after that the tranny is where i get lost... there is a service manual link around here somewhere but i can never remember where it is...

There ya go... Gunny hooked ya up! Nice picture Bigoltool!

Thanks! That's exactly what I was looking for.

So there's one cam for the intake and one for the exhaust. Anyone know the specs? Also, how optomized are these cams. Is there any room for improvement? Aftermarket options?

yes, like any production engine... there are improvements that can be made every where since production engines are a compromise.

Yea I'm for real. Most of my experience is on pushrod stuff. Performance wise I was contemplating a cam swap and maybe porting the heads. I doubt theres any room for bigger valves and I assume they already make them outta pretty light material to sustain such high rpms. I'm confused about the tuning requirements as well for mods like heads/cams for bikes.

I didn't want to sound stupid, but didn't really know a better way to ask.

I found a site w/ the cam specs for the busa. How much bigger can you go on lift w/ stock pistons? Does increasing duration do much for them? Is the duration rated at .050 lift like car cams?

I'm new to bike engines and just have a ton of questions to help me answer for myself where I want to go with the mods.

Swapping the stock exhaust cam with a stock intake cam is said to give a nice little increase in power. Some say around 7hp but I have not seen any hard #s yet. It is an old trick I've been told.
