Is a busa a large Gixxer?

I will probably be drawn and quartered for saying this, but the Busa is sort of related to both the GSXR and the Kitana - it is Suzuki's flagship motorcycle.

Yes, it is the MAN'S version.

Well they both have 2 wheels?

In Suzuki lingo, GSX is the sport tour designation. GSXR is the sport bike (race)designation. Since the Busa is definately more on the sport side than the tour side, they added the R after the displacement.

The "Katana" was the flagship back in the day

I've had both. To me, the Katana rides just like the busa, similar weight just less power.

GSX R'S are race rep's, where as a Hayabusa is their HIGH SPEED GRAND TOURING (GT) bike. For those who want speed and power, but with comfort and traveling abilities. I love my 998 Duc, but I can't see me doing 1000 mile trips on it, but the BUSA NOOOOOO PROBLEM

I agree I got off my Katana and felt right at home on My new Busa Only real difference is a lot more horse power. I mean a lot more HP
I let a Harley friend ride my Busa He has rode my K many times and he said felt same just faster. I have stolen him away from HD he is buying my Katana . Going to sell his sporty .

I would say Busa is in the same family as the GSX-r but not the same class, one is a road course racing replica, the other (busa) is a great all around fast touring bike.

Having both I like to describe my Busa as Strong and Smooth and my GSXR 750 as nimble and quick. I also like this line from Suzuki's web site "Say GSX-R75O, and the world thinks of a racebike with lights."

Needless to say I think I have the best of all worlds by having a Busa and a 750
