Is dealer check necessary?

My 04' buse has 18k miles on it. Do I need to get her into the dealer for the valve check, throttle sync, etc? Will my PowerCommander give any clues as to the condition of it's overall state?

On cars, there's an access port for error checking. Does just jumping the harness with a wire go through all the codes and give me an inkling of any problems?

I'm just trying to make sure I do the right thing for my busa.

You can find DIY how tos for the sync and the valve check... do the valves first then the sync. f you are not mechanically inclined, then take it to a stealership IF you can't find a bike shop that seems reputable. I am not the best, but if you would like help I wills pend time on the pho for a erbal walkthrough on some things..

Juming the harness won't give you codes if nothing is failing....

Thanks MC. I appreciate that. I'll get the manual out and do the valve check. I'm mechanically inclined - but I'm no Jinkster or Daniel and don't have much shop time or training. I'm can do most things with guidance.

I'm not sure I can tackle the valves though. - I'm going to have to get your and Fairclough's guidance. (He lives down the road but travels during the week.)

I'll do my studying on these before I start and then check in with you and Jason.
