Is Dex-Cool antifreeze safe...

I'm wrapping up a Muzzy fan install, and also a cooling system flush on my '05. I'm thinking the GM mixture of Dex-Cool antifreeze would be a good choice ? I'm also planning on adding some " Water Wetter " as a little extra insurance ! Thank's in advance for all opinions........

This is a iffy subject. Many say with a flush it is fine in the automotive world to do this.
Now lemme tell you from 15 years of GM training under my belt. I would not recommend it. The water pumps today that are designed to work with DEX-Cool coolants are a little different, they are made to run without the extra lubricant that the Green ethanolglyco coolant or whatever the name of it is (to late for me to think that clear). SO in waterpumps that use the green stuff the lube is used to help keep the pump from locking up and eating into the pump housing, yes i said eating into it.
After seeing many car returning to the shop that had the conversion made to them and imspection the condition of the pumps i would say (NO keep the green), and use water weter is you want, now i have heard of people running straight water wetter in 4 wheeler and offroad vehicles and not having problems but like i said i have heard of this not seen it to be true.

I've worked in a shop the last ten years and I agree with the above, do not mix the two. Now they do make a long life coolant that's gold in color. This works just fine in any system. Just flush yours out with water and replace with proper mixture of gold coolant and water. Good Luck

Thank's guys for the input. I spoke with the head mech. at the local Suzuki shop, and he said it would be fine to run the Dex-Cool. He did recomend a 50/50 mix of the Dex-Cool & water, which I did, and I also added approximately 3 oz. of Water Wetter. According to the Water Wetter label, it does include the lubricants you both mentioned. I will come back and post after I have put a few miles on the bike. Tonight when I ran it to heat it up & work the air out of the system, it did seem to take a little longer to warm up. Of course all the plastic's are off the bike, and it is up on both stands ! It was also only at 80 deg. in the shop, according to the thermometer ! I'm quite sure that I will have to top it off tomorrow, after it has had a chance to draw in the extra coolant I placed in the expansion tank prior to running the bike. Any Hoo..... that is where I'm at now. I just need to finish up my Cruise Control install, then I will be ready to ride !
