Is it okay to reach over...

I was at the local bike hang out one nite last week, we were by the wendy's parking lot, and they were lil more than 10 bikes were there, and then fire truck pulled in for break or some, and one of the fireman came over to me and we start talk about the busa, that he has 03 aniversary model and he like to hear my yoshi snobby, so, I cranked up and let him rev couple of times...(I don't usually, let others touch my bike, but, I don't know what I was thinkin...

) and I was standing on clutch side talking to fireman, and THIS IGNORANT MOFO walk right to the bike and start rev it over to rev limiter twice...I couldn't stop em...

and walk away...WTF
Anyway, is it okay? or did he damage any? its running fine except, when its idle to rev 2~3k, its kinda dulled sounds to it...any in puts?

PS:this is why I don't usually go to squid hang outs...but, whats done is done.

A rev limiter is there to keep you revs in a safe limit. it shouldnt have hurt it, unless you dont really take care of your bike on a routine basis. the rev limiter is the highest safe revs your bike can handle. i wouldnt worry about it.

THATS A REV LIMITER? I thought it was a Japanesey shift signal...
I've been using it like a shift light for all these years...

Do you think I hurt something, I put 11K miles on my 01 and I couldnt count the times she was bouncing off the limiter with fire blowing from the exhaust.

I wouldnt worry about hitting it a couple of times, prolly cleaned out your injection system a llittle....

But the cat that touched your right hand grip definetly violated, I would be pissed off, there are just some things you dont do...

Its not good to rev any engine to redline with no load on it,but it should be fine.These bikes take abuse very well.

p.s.You're a cooler head than I,he would have got hurt in a bad way,that was just wrong.No respect at all.

while he was talking with the fire fighter, someone else came over and did it - at least - that's how I interpreted it

+1, thats how I understood it as well...


Dude that revved it like that wouldn't be touching anyones bike uninvited again, I'll tell you that much!

it is near 30 years of my riding life, and this is my first time experience...and I wouldn't do this for anything PERIOD.

Nah...it wasn't the firefighter...no sir, and I let him rev it, and he only did like 3~4k and that was the end of it, then we start talking, not the squid don't even know where he came from...(I know, far better than who the squid and whos not...)

Yeah the guy that REVed the almighty Busa to rev limiter he would have been eating asphalt might have even got curbed like in American History X

Not good under no load conditions. At least the bike was warm and oiled before that azzclown stepped up. That's why Busa owners carry concealed.

Should not have hurt the bike, but for sure the next time the squid twisted a throttle his arm would be in a cast! Thats just not right!
