Is This Fast Enough?

1st Question, on a stock Busa (with de-restrictor for 2002), What gear do you need to be in to get as close to 200 MPH...5th or 6th?

Next, and more important Question: I have lowered 1 tooth on the front sprocket. As with the 1st question, what gear should I still be in to get the highest top-end out of the Busa. And if I have decreased my top end with this 16 tooth, about how much MPH have I lost with this smaller tooth?
Thanks!

Well the first answer is you need to top out 5th to the rev limiter and then do the same thing with 6th gear on a stock bike.

2nd answer is you will NEVER hit 200mph if you dropped a gear in the front. You will hit about 176mph on a GPS which is about 188 on your speedo.

Now with mods this is a different story. i hvae hit 200mph on the GPS in 5th gear using 19/41

Damn, I didn't know you could fit a 19 up front!!!
You can fit a 20 in there. You need to be around 220hp for the 19 and 300hp at least for the 20. ^The 20 would get you about 240mph .

Of all the different combos of gears i have tried, I like running 18/40 which tops out very quick at about 211mph (using 310hp)

Yhea there is always someone faster. As you know there is 400 & 500+hp Busas out there, but i am happy with what i have. Now I enjou getting up to speed in less then 9/10's of a mile using the 18/40. It feels like you are going to get pulled right off the bike getting there.

Well N.E...even if others have more power....your combo is now reliable....I know you paid a high price to get where you are today...211 very quickly just "ROCKS" Today me and my Bud hit some serious twisty's and had a ball..I just love this Big heavy high powerd sportbike..handles good enough for me.
What i dont get is why i can still blaze the turns pretty fast..heart i throat....just right..Ride well gang..PaceM. ;)

so i guess the hyperdrive dohickie will not get up to lightspeed without the correct sprocket combinations ?

OH GREAT NINJA EATER HOW DOSE THE 19 ACT IN THE LOWER RPMS SPEEDS OR WITH A TURBO IS IT BETTER TO GO UP IN FRONT ? JUST CURIOUS WILL BE GETTING TURBO SOON HOPEFULLY NLR AS SOON AS MONEY PROVIDES:D

shmoo, you were thinking that 6th may be an overdrive... They don't put overdrives on sportsbikes...

19/36 or a 20/36 for you 300+HP bikes and yes, you can install overdrive gears for your tranny.

Even with 300 +hp Turbo's I find that 19T and 20T makes some turbos work to hard. 19/36 and 20/36 takes the final drive ration down to 1.8. 18/40 is about 2.2222. Don't get me wrong for top d racing it is 19's 20's are great, however if you are driving your Busa every day also, you are making the turbo run harder and hotter then need be, especially if you do not take care of other precautions like water mist race gas ect. Now if you are pushing 385hp then even every day with the 19 and 20 should be fine. The bottom line I guess is depends on the turbo and the spool rate. back in my rookie turbo days I melted an engine very bad using a 19/40. That was due to a lot of other things also.
