In my little riding "crew" we've had two tires ruined by nails/screws in the last week. We found a screw in Matt's rear tire the other day as we were heading out for the mountains. Today as we were putting Matt's bike back together after getting new tires mounted we noticed a nail in Dave's rear tire. Dave is the one that just bought the '05 black tribal CBR600RR. He has maybe 250 miles on it and it is already sidelined by this...

There sure is a lot of crap (nails, screws ect.) in the road.

Yea, I feel your pain BT. Last summer I put a new 208 on the rear, and the very next day, and only 118 miles on it, I picked up a roofing nail. I went back to the dealer with wheel in hand, and they must of felt sorry for me, because they give me the next one for cost.

I have since then been through 2 more tires, and I had the one with 118 miles on it patch pluged from the inside and it looks safe, but I,ve not put it on yet, but I may put it on this summer.I have not really decided to use it or not.

Yeah, and I won't plug a tire on a bike... Especially not on a sport bike that gets rode hard 'n' put up wet. Just not worth the risk for me. Dave is on the phone now trying to find a Sport locally (CycleGear). Matt went with new Powers front and rear. Matt's tires were near needin' replaced anyway though. It really sucks for Dave to have to buy a new hoop this soon.

That sucks BT . Had the same thing happen to me , saw a little screw head peeping out of the rear tyre and when I unscrewed it . was about 3 inches long and psssst flat tyre . Put screw back in and pumped her up . Just got me to the dealer's and new tyres , luckily they were due to be changed...

Fuggin Nails!! There is so much DAMN construction around here, there are nails and screws in the road at every intersection. At Wallyworld a few days ago, I saw a construction guy driving around with boxes of dry wall screws and roofing nails spilled all over the bed of his truck. I wanted to put one under each of his tires. The tire shops are loving it. Needless to say, I've never WORN out a tire yet.

While riding home my rear tire started getting mushy. I was only a few blocks away so I carefully went home anyway. I found what looked like the hex head bolt. I removed the tire and took it to the dealer for replacement. They showed me what it was.
