Well its been several months since I crashed and I bought my 2007 back from the insurance company. My 08 is on order and I have planned to make the 07 my race bike (if thats what you want to call what I am going to do next year). With all that has been going on lately, the crash, kids and sports, family affairs, the get together I just haven't had time to look into the bike to see what was wrong... Since I am going to race the 07 I pulled the roadlok and the throttle meisters off, the bolt on the throttlemeister was bent on the contol WOW! I new there was a bunch of cosmetic damage on the bike but the core of the bike had me a little concerned. Well since life is settling down, no more grass to mow and football season is over for my son I new some free time was coming. Tonight I had absolutely nothing planned, I put the bike up on a frame stand on the front and a redline rearstand that I bought this week. I started pulling pieces off, the fairing stay, what was left of the nose cone and headlight assy, the front forks, front tire, fender and all the little pieces that go along with that.

I got everything off, turned the key on just to see if she would start and no go, I had good tail light and I put a meter on the turn signal connectors and headlight connectors and had voltage there.. Fuel pump came on but it wouldn't turn over... I checked every wire and there were not any cuts or loose wires... I checked the kickstand, gear shift, and clutch but nothing, finally I pulled the wires off the clutch switch and jumpered with a piece of wire and VIOLA she fired right up... Smooooooth..... I thought originally that the radiator had a leak in it and it still might but it looks like most of the fluid that has leaked out was from when the bike was on its side it came out the over flow line onto the inner fairing and its been trapped in there just dripping... Either way it started and sounded good...

The front wheel isnt bent and the rotors are straight.. Good news

The tire has a tear so that has to be replaced

The forks are HOSED !!!! Expensive

The fork clamp that the stabilizer connects to is bent so that needs to be replaced

The clutch assy is broken, funny thing the lever is fine but the part where the shaft goes in is broken....

Front fender shredded

Fairing stay bent all up

Gauge cluster = busted in a million pieces

Inner panels > Upper left needs to be replaced, upper right good to go.....

Side panels, scratched but repairable I think... I will do a little bod work to them and then take them to a bud that will spray them for me...  The left side has a little wrinkle but nothing I dont thing I cant fix

Headlight assy is in 2 million pieces

I dont even know where the windshield is at !

No stretchy stretchy, I am going to put a race tire on it, lower it, maybe an air shifter and launch lights (hey this sounds a lot like professors bike) and then hit the track... Im going out there more to participate than to compete...I just wanna have fun! Almost sounds like an 80's hit huh

NO NO NO.... this post is not about me looking for parts, I will buy them just like everyone else.... As the "Leader" of this group its my responsibility to make sure that members are not taken advantage of especially by the admins or myself. The farther up the food chain you go in any organisation the more true this becomes... I will get a list together and if someone has the parts for sale I might buy them or get them new from an advertiser on the board.... I want no one to send me anything.... The old timers will remember when Cache built the "Hayabusa.Org Race Bike" from donations from the members (cash and parts) then turned around and sold it.... It left a bad taste in the mouths of I think hundreds of our members.. I will not go through that again...... That is a perfect example of why I cannot take free parts.

But the offer means just as much...

Stick an '08 front suspension and brakes on it.. Should be a bunch of that stuff on the market soon. Ought to be fun putting her back together.

Cap, i have a set of 04' gold forks that i was gonna chrome but i changed my mind. They need fork seals but if your gonna race, your gonna redo the springs and that would land you new seals anyway. Let me know if you need them.

Good news Cap. You don't know how bad I wanted to start working on the bike while down there, and see if we could get it started. I think professor were thinking the same thing, or mabe he was looking for spare parts!

Anyway, I may do some of the same mods to my bike so I can come down there some next season and do some racing with you and Professor. I know Smokenbusa (Josh) has some forks off an 06 with real low miles if you are interested. PM me if you want his #. Thanks again for the great time last weekend, it was the most fun I have had for a long time.
