It's official

After tonight at the track I now have the world's slowest Hayabusa. I believe the old worn out clutch finally gave up. Time to look deep into the pockets and see what I can come up with.

The first run out should have told me something. I could only pull a 10:7
I never felt the clutch slip though. I ran it again only to pull a 10:8.
OK, now I know something isn't right. I launched the bike at 5 grand and tacked it out before the 60 ft marker. When I shifted it was a short shift due to the clutch slipping ever so gently and letting the bike rev too high.

I didn't quit though. I decided to see if I could better my times knowing the clutch was shot. Nope, didn't happen. In fact I pulled a personal worst record of 11:1

How embarrassing was the night? Well, I have a friend on a TL1000 that beat me. Don't get me wrong, I gave him a half second head start, but normally I run him down and have time to spare.

Anyone feel the need to donate a Hayabusa clutch?
Off to shopping now.

Oh, DadofThree, that ragged ZX14 beat me. That was on my personal worst time ever posted. I couldn't do anything with the bike at all. He beat me while pulling a wheelie through the 1/8 mile.

Yep, it's official, I'm a loser and have embarressed the Hayabusa world in front of Thousands.

Beat you while pulling a wheelie at the 1/8th?? yikes..

If it makes you feel any better, I got spooked by some crosswinds a while back in a desert race and ran a whopping 66mph.

An 82yr. old Great Grandmother riding a nitrous Busa ran right behind me (in the same 20mph cross winds) and put up a 186MPH...

I share a spot with you on the chair of shame... ;)

Don't beat yourself up so badly...it just sounds like you had a mechanical issue that when corrected you will be back on top again

+1 - can't blame yourself when you have mechanical probs.

When I installed the Brocks ultra mod I went ahead and put in new fibers even though the ones I pulled out looked fine. If you want my used fibers (9k miles) PM me (although new OEM's are only like $100 or so).

I'll pass on the offer bro. You may need them as you spray the Busa.
The donation thing was supposed to be a joke. I should have known better than say something like that around here. Too many kind hearted people.

(I haven't seen ya around my world lately. Where ya been?)

Aww come on! You don't want my almost 10k mile clutch? I only ran through maybe thirty or forty pounds of NOS with that clutch

Been layin' low - fixin' to hit Gateway next month - will probably give superbusa a call to see if he's going if he's got his bike fixed by then.

And I thought this was a Yamahor thread.

If you would have given me the five bucks to run, you could have claimed victory, especially with my 17/38 set up.

Order you 4 or 5 thick clutch plates and a set of springs. You might be surprised. I made 4 or 5 passes on mine with it slipping and was able to salvage it as a spare.

If you had asked for $5 I would have gladly given it to ya. Then I could have had a new racer whip me. You would have been proud.

Hmmm, that's an idea.
What thickness did you use? That may help in more ways than one.
