After almost 15 years in the medical feild, I am well sick of it. Really how long can you deal with the blood, the abuse on one mind from seeing what people do to each other, the stupidty that takes a life of thoses who were only wrong by being in the wrong place at the right time.. I feel this may have a lot to do with my anixety problems as well.. Not to mention i had 15 years in a retirement system that wont follow me. I can cash ot out or wait untill I am 65 to get any of it back. At the hospital I have ot put in 25 more year to be able to retire fully. Folks I dont want ot look at sick people for 25 more years. I dont want ot see sick people anymore at all. I feel I have all but lost my compassion for people as a whole. Dont get me worng I understand if someone is truley sick they are sick, and I love to help. But the calls for BS just ot get a free ride to the hospital to refill their drugs, or to see the 16 year old kid in the ICU after over dosing on Rx meds given to them by some street punk that makes up all kinds of illnesses just to get them. I just dont know how much more i can take before I loose it.

its no better in the hospital, patients forever wanting things simply beacuse they are to lazy to get off their ass and get it. The calls every 2 min for pain meds, knowing they cant have any for 2 or 3 more hours. The abuse on staff by patients cause we do kiss their asses as well as they feel we should. And to top that off I am looking at 3 years of nursing school to be able ot make good money in this profession I thought I wanted to go into.

jessica and I had a long talk today, well more like her yelling at me, but we came to a agrement. I stay at the hospital untill I find something I would like to do. My buddy works for a place called Force Protection, they build bomb proof vehcs for the goverment. He makes good money, and said they need good people there. if i pass all the tests my starting pay would be 19.80 a hour, and go up by 5 dollars at my 6 month review if i have not been a total tool. So I sent my resume in to them, I have a lot of mechanical back ground and would be well suited for the job. Ben has known me for 20+ years and says I would have no problem making cell lead or even line supervisor with in a year. That means a lot comming form him. He is the kind of guy who can look at something then know pretty much everyhting aobut how it works and what will be worng if it stops working. ( On a side note he has a ridding lawn mower he put a turbo on, I kidd you not)

I think this will do me some good, but I will miss wearing scrubs at work lol.

Cool! Good luck with it. No one says you have to do one thing your whole life.

I have worked in hospitals since 1977 and given how you have expressed your feelings I agree that you should pursue a different career.

Dont get me wrong I am not a bad person, and would never cause harm to any of my patients, I think I should just move on. Only fore seeable problem I see is the medical feild is pretty much recession proof.
