If I have a suzuki shop install a set of cams that I purchase from Web or Yosh, what should I budget for the install. The original valve train would be reused since the cams are mild. How many hours does the manual indicate for the surgery.

I depends on who is doing thejob and are you useing adjustable can sprockets.something like this is not flat rate time it is by skill for you sometimes get what you pay for. you are in big D did you what to come out Sun to Yellow belly with some other Busa for some fun?

Hyper.. for first rate job like that you might want to put about $500 in your budget. Aftermarket (reground) cam's gain lift and duration by removing material from the area known as the basecircle of the cam. This will require that all 16 valve shims will have to be replaced with thicker one's. That means your tech will have to install and remove the cams at least once to set the valve adjustment. Then there is the issue of setting the cam centerlines (Degreeing) as your cam supplier will give you instructions for. I have degreed cams before and it is never a first time drop em in and it's done type of job. This is best left to the best tech you can find! Bottom line it is a job that will take a good tech all day to do right. Done wrong it cold cost you pulling the head for a few bent valves. As a final note I advise bringing your bike to the shop with the lower and side bodywork removed. :-) Brian

Don`t waste your time with just mild cams...at least put pistons also. A good serdi job on head and mild clean up on ports. It would also be easier if you just dropped out the engine. just my 2 cents...
