Just can't understand

My adoptive father.
No prior indications, nothing unusual or out of the ordinary. He has gone through a lot of stress and physical pain but nothing that he couldn't handle.
Mother went to church and he decided that he was gonna go back to bed to try to get some rest. While she was gone he made the choice that there is no going back from.

Please don't ask how or for any details. I'm really not interestsed in discussing those aspects of this. More just wanting/needing to vent at moment and still in a bit of shock about it.
