I'm gonna up some slip-ons till I decide what I really want from this beast.  Is there a huge difference when going this route?  I know coming from a V-Twin twin there is a huge difference in power from brand to brand. Some make tourque, some HP, some don't do crap but look great, others diminish power...

Besides weight savings are there any big diffs?  I don't mind louder, that isn't an issue.  I don't want to start messing with full exhaust and a power commander and mapping till she's well over 1000 miles...  I figure I can do slip-ons get the noise up a bit and maybe just have to bump the ECU a tad.

It seems you can go from Yosh S/S TRS at $550 to well over a $1000 for C/F or Titanium in other brands...

Any thoughts would be muchly appreciated.

Dave

By the way, it comes home Saturday and I still haven't heard from TOBIN yet.  How long is give him some time?  It's been more than a week...

Got my bolt on Muzzy's from parts411. They are basically muffled straight pipes. Deep throathy sound.

Well man I will give you the whole spectrum on this. Unless your pocket book is really deep I would just ride around on the factory exhaust until you figure out what exactly it is you want. Heres what you will get

Bolt ons- Absolutely no power gain. You will be spending about 600$ to lose a few pounds, a WHOLE lot better look and sound.

Full exhaust-Depending on what kind you get your gonna up your HP 10-15, you'll need a PC which is gonna run an extra 300$ on top of the exhaust price.

Also with either one of these you are gonna need to do a PAIR removal most likely which will run you another 200$ or so.

Now when I got my Busa I just decided to buy some YOSHI RS3 race baffle cans. I looked at it like you know I don't race this bike so to me it has enough power. I just wanted better sound and looks. I also didn't wanna lose the Dual Exhaust look and as far as FULL systems go your options are limited on 4-2-2 setups. To me I would buy the Bolt ons and spend more money in areas that the bike needs like suspension and so on.

Ultimately the choice is up to you though......lots of $$$$ for an extra 10 HP or save some there and make the bike perform better in other areas. But F it.......if you got the money do it all man.

Hope this helped ya

Church I thought you said you drilled your stock cans? Or was that before the Muzzy's?

I would get slip ons I would just wait till you have enough. The cut and paste link will get you a good set up and it is around 1300-1400 already mapped.

Dont mean to thread jack ya,Playa, but this Mutha fugga is purdy.

save your pennies get a 4/1 even the plain jane Muzy 4/1 is about 550 the main reason you want 4/1 about 20lbs.weight savings

I know your not keen about going for a full system now... but I still recomend you to go for one!! I have been on the exact route that your a planning to go on now... and all that I have achieved is lost money

If you are going in for slipon ... especially carbon or titanium, you will spend a good amount of money, close to 800$ or so if you are going for a good brand. I suggest you might rather well go for a full system!! If going full is not your option for somemore time... then I suggest you stay with your stock system until you are ready to go for a full system!

If you do think of going for a full system, I do suggest you to take a look at the Muzzy Full Titanium exhaust system!! Great sound, good looks... and is super light. Costs aobut 1200$ ...but I feel its worth it!

Me too. Dont waste your cash getting cans. Get the whole thing.

Not that I lost money selling the Microns I bought here from one of the guys... but you will save in the long run.

It's not the money, I'm buying the bike cash and have more than a few thousand left over from the sale of the Warrior. I had really decided not to go mod crazy with this bike, I had well over $22,000 into the Warrior and there was no end in sight. I just want to do a few cosmetic mods for now and see how I feel about the bike before I jump in with both feet.

I planned on cans for looks and some more sound.
a TOBIN Seat, they just blow the Corbin away for looks.
a TopGun UFO Undertail for the clean look of it.
A ZG Double bubble
I bought some Risers to alleviate some of the back strain(old injury)
and a CF tank pad to keep from killing the tank with my Joe Rocket zipper.

I'm fairly certain the winter will bring full exhaust, Air box mod, PC3R and dyno tuning... and probably look into some graphics.

And who knows after that. It just seems awfully quiet after the Warrior. My Bandit 1200 had Pipes, can, jet kit and timing advance from HoleShot Performance, the bike ran mint and sounded awesome.

I just put on a pair of black satin D&D bolt ons this monday.  Looks great (on my 05 gun metal and black), sounds great, litle lighter and I don't know if I gained any power (maybe 1 or 2 hp).  Delivered to my door from www.starcycle.com for $499.95.  Didn't go with the full system for two reasons, additional cost of at least $600.00 (air filter ,Power Commander + about $250.00 more for full system) and Suzuki told me that going with full system would void my warranty ( I bought four year extended warranty).  And maybe a third reason, I personaly think Busa has plenty of power, at least for me.:;):

I just got my Yoshimura RS-3 bolt ons in practically NEW condition from a member here , Toyz is his tag. I only paid $300 for them and I'll be honest and say it was the best $300 I spent on the bike so far. THey were stainless in mint condition and they definitely gave the bike a better throaty sound. No power gains from what I can tell. But I'm not trying to do warp speed here so it doesn't matter to me. The stock bike has plenty of power for me for now.

Depends on what you really want.

IF you get a full blown exhaust, pipe+ exhaust, then you will have to get a power commander too, so it's definitely not a cheap way to go.

PAIR removal costs $200?

Block off plates are about $30-$40. Of course you can do the PAIR sucker mod, potentially gain another 2-5HP and pay literally nothing other than keeping the weight of the PAIR.

Also as a note, pretty much every dual system that I have seen is actually a 4-2-1-2, since after they taper to the 4-2 on the headers, they meet in a "x-collector" configuration.

My opinion is to do the small box mod, get a full system, PC3R, PAIR block off plates, a 43 tooth rear sprocket, and a speedo-healer, and since you have the $$$, get the front forks re-sprung with the proper weight (and the rest of the suspension set correctly), replace the stock brake lines with SS-braided lines, and the pads with EBC HH pads, and lastly, replace the tires with Michelin Pilot Powers, and you will absolutely swear you are riding a different bike.

Personally, for cost, weight savings, and performance, I would go with a Hindle BDE full system with a carbon fiber can, and get the PC3R and block off plates from Brock as well (he does package deals, and loads a map on it for you).

If you like the dual look, then I would look at HMF dual high or low mount. If you plan on ever changing the cam or going to a 1397, then I would stick with the Hindle BDE or get a HMF big-bird.

you don't have to have a PC3 if you have a full. heck I have had customers with 1397 and no PC3. $300 for bolt on is still too much because a Muzzy ful system is only 550 250.00 more for 20lbs less and 5 more ponies you bet,and you can block the pair for free or remove it anduse self tapping bolts like $0.25

You could always go with Viper Racing Cans. A couple of us just ordered them. They sound really good, look great and are a straight through design. each muffler weighs in at 7 1/2 lbs. This particular video clip does not do the pipes justice but here it is. The mufflers run around 170 dollars a piece. Can't go wrong. You can get them from http://www.flyncycle.com/acatalog/Suzuki_GSX-R1300.html They have great customer service and are very nice to work with.
