I just hit 10000 and want to do the full service. I know it's valve time but what else is needed or required. Also going to put in a PCIII, asap. It's a '99 with a full Yosh twin, and I bought it late August of last year with 1900 on the odometer.
I thought the valve job was at the 16,000mile service. At 11,000 mile service its just air filter, oil filter, oil, basically. Was your last service at 7500??
Yes. Last service 7520, and they told me that valve job comes at 10000. Maybe they're trying to be safe considering the infrequent use before I bought it? 1900 miles comes out to 'bout 31 miles a month.
Valve adjustment is at 16000. Spark plugs I think are at 7500. Oil is at 3500 and every other oil change they reccomend oil filter also be changed. Most people change oil and filter every 3000 or less.
Valves are at 15,000 before they should need an adjustment. Most places do not shim correctly or at all when they do valves so be careful. Most shops do not even have shims on hand. Trust me on that one. Make sure you get what you pay for. I do not think you will need the valves shimmed yet, but do check them.
Any qualified motorcycle shop is fine. We have heard just as many horror stories of bad service from Suzuki dealers as from independant shops. Ask your buddies that ride for any reccomendations for a good shop to use.
Way to go, my black 04 busa also just hit 10,000, I'm with Ninja Eater, plenty of shops out there willing to take your money with out doing the service. A bad valve job will cost you an engine or worse.
