Kick Stand

Greetings,

Well, Christmas long gone and the weather here in the UK will turn a little soon. I have been working on bits and bobs on the bike the last few weeks.

One of the new things on the bike is a nice set of Gilles rearsets. They look the business! But, here's the rub; the stock kick stand when in the up position angles out away from the bike and is a little in the way of my size 11's.

Has anyone had this problem and solved it? I have seen a few aftermarket kickstands out there but have no knowledge if they are largely eye candy or functional in as much as getting it out of the way!

Also, the stock stand is prone to letting the bike roll forward if you give the bike a little nudge that way. After a car accident I had three years ago, I am much less than graceful when I throw my leg over, especially with the hump on, and have almost dropped the bastard a couple of times!

You can put a notch in your kickstand that will allow it to go forward more when it is down. That will keep it from rolling off the kickstand when you throw a leg over it.

You may also be able to bend the kickstand so that it is out of youor way. Just be careful you don't bend it in such a way that it causes any instability.

Maybe an adjustable one would do the trick.
