Kickstand mod..remove or not

I got myself a Dremel and started work on notching..
My question is..did you notch with the kickstand on the bike (back breaking and PITA), or did you remove the arm or arm + bracket ?
If you remove the arm and bracket, I noticed that the bolts go thru' the casing..is this a straight un-bolt, or are there captive nuts on the other end ?
Thanks,

Mike

I took the kick stand off (2 & 3 in the picture above) and sat on the front porch in a lawn chair and went to town with the dremel... i would go back to the bike once in a while to make sure i wasnt taking to much off every so often... just take your time and its fairly easy!

...thats the way to go..I had it in a vice and filed it..made a much neater job..went about 3/32 deep and got it to fit nice. Already had a spring puller from my dirt bike days, so getting the 2 springs off was a breeze. The slot is actually wider than the lug because its on an arc. I couldn't imagine doing it with a dremel whilst still on the bike..quite possible but what a PITA !!

Thanks..

Mike

Definitely off...much easier and easy to take off as well.

I simply used locking vice grips to pull the springs back on w/ the bike in gear and rolled back to a stop so it didn't roll when I was pulling on the springs.

Also, for what it's worth, I put some black Rustoleum paint on the areas I Dremmeled...simply used a Q-tip I had laying around.

Did mine on while the bike was on the rear stand. Then kept rotating the kickstand back and forth to get a feel for the fit and how much it'd change the angle. Took longer than 15 min, my dremmel is really dull.

I did mine on the bike with it up on stand. I used a cutting wheel. Took 5 minutes then another couple with a file to make it perfect.
