Kenny Roberts on the TZ750 at the Indy Mile 2009..

[/MEDIA]

34 years ago, late in the summer I graduated high school, he won the Indy mile on the TZ750. Yamaha agreed with Kenny, and the ruling body of the day, that it was too much for the dirt track, and killed the project. Before it killed some riders.. and Harley Davidson.
He talked s**t before he went out about "hoping it came back to him", and everyone was amazed that he leaned on it so hard.. but he ain't fooling me.
"It" never left him, and that bike was a time machine. The more he twisted the grip, the more the years rolled back.
If your in your 50's like me and Kenny, and here reading this, you know what I'm saying..

Hey you don't have to be 50 something to worship King Kenny. Between Joey Dunlop and King Kenny they are the only two I ever dreamed of being.
At 13 I even had my chance to be a King Kenny wannabe on my 1985 RZ350 Kenny Roberts signature edition.
It was one of the nicest bikes ever made because it had a 10hp adding Kenny Roberts sig on the fairing !:beerchug:
I got the White and Red cuz my best friend at the time beat me to the Black and Yellow edition.

That video is too cool ! I bet he could give Vale a run for his money !

Only one man can lay claim to being America's greatest of all time racer. Kenny could do it all. Dirt, scrambles and road you name it he did it and won them all at one time or another.

The only two that in my mind could even get close but never be there were the late great Cal Rayborn and Scott Russell.

It's worth going to the Indy Moto GP just to attend the Indy Mile on Saturday night!

Wardie:beerchug:
