Knock after upshift and clutch release 01'WTF

If im buzzin round town and riding smooth i dont really notice this too much or maybe ive become used to it im not sure but when i bought the bike with 7,000 miles on it up until now (8200 miles) when im shifting from first to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd,etc.... when i release the clutch i hear a knock and then the clutch engages. Its not a super long ammount of time and i only really notice this at speeds of 35 and below. Like it happens so quickly i thought maybe the chain was loose and the clunk was the chain slack being taken up by the motor....not the case cause after adjusting the chain to spec same exact noise.....maybe its normal i dunno just thought id ask, thanks guys..................bbb 01'busa

My first thought is to check the cush drive under the rear sprocket. If they have failed you will get some slop and possibly a clunk or 2. Unless it sounds like the noise is coming from the clutch basket...

It seems like the noise is comming from the case/clutch basket possibly.....
