I was just coming on here to post that as I had just read it....
Pete Rose was a tough dude. Not likable but as competitive as anyone. I was watching the all-star game when he barreled over Ray Fosse, the American League catcher at the plate. The game then was a meaningless exhibition but he hurt Fosse so badly his career was never the same. There was also a fight with Bud Harrelson, the Mets’ shortstop, that Rose outweighed by 30 lbs.
Still, the all time hits leader needs to be in the Hall, I think.
