Well about 2 weeks ago Kristie fell and hurt her shoulder. We took her to the ER that night and they didn't find anything. We heard it pop and I was pretty sure that it was out of the socket. This happened about 3 more times. She went to get an MRI last Friday and they told us today that she chipped part of her shoulder socket, ripped her bicep in two and tore some cartiledge.

UGGGGGGGGGG

She goes in for surgery next Wednesday, they wanted to do it tomorrow but the surgeon was booked up... She will be off work for 4 weeks then 3 months of rehab... Just what we were wanting for Christmas..

It could have been a lot worse, when she fell she could have hit her head.

Cap...

prayers sent for her! :please:

you know she just did this so you would have to take down all of the Christmas decorations by yourself

That's unfortunate to hear, but you're right it could've been worse. and best part is you caught it early so no other damage happened that would have huge side effects later on. The therapy is long but the benefits in the future are well worth it.

They did tell us that she would probably not be able to lift her arm above her head ever again and that the the chances of this occuring again were about 95%....

Not very good odds if you ask me..

Make sure they operate on the right part of the body...this is a serious statement. please double check.

Good luck Christie. Hang tough!

I wish her luck..and Kristie is?????????

my buddy just had bicept surgey. hes a power lifter. the surgery is pretty straight forward but the recovery is very long. it seems like she has some other issues as well. like u said better then hitting her head. most return to a 100% after rehab so she should be fine come riding season.....

reinjury can happen tho but its not nealy as common as you think. she needs to make sure she heals correctly. many take for granted cause their sick of not being able to use their arm and start doing things before they heal and weaken it. I know many power lifters who have torn it and never torn it again and they continue to lift extremely heavy weights.

I remember him saying that he needs to give his body time to build back to its level prior to his injury. he harped on continuing to stretch and strengthen all of the surrounding muscles slowly so you don't create a lack of flexibility or muscular imbalance which can can the muscle to shortn.

but some tears are worse then others that is certainly true.
