Just recovering from three days at Laguna Seca...I know someone had to do it so they picked on me Will probably post several articles due to bandwidth.
They run three classes at L.S...the Daytona class (600 cc), MotoGP, and the Superbike class. Took some pics of tires being used by the racers in the Daytona and Superbike class paddock. I have no idea how much money it cost to get into the MotoGP paddock...anyone know? Chuck (Amode) and I spent 200 dollars each which included three day admission, 3 days in the green parking zone (lakebed), and three day paddock pass. Saw some horrendous highsides by all levels of racers...with some pictures of bikes from Daytona and Superbike class. One poor guy got knocked silly and hospitalized on a KTM...you can see that the mechanic has the bike stripped all the way down to the frame and engine while they rebuild.
It is amazing the amount of money spent on these factory setups. The rigs are huge and just full of stuff. You can begin to see why only the top echelon of riders is lucky to have a factory team...like Ben Spies landing his Yamaha gig. Even the race teams don't do their own tires. They subcontract out to tire specialist..pic included
