+1 in order for ANY HID light to be legal/DOT approved, the automobile/motocycle has to come from the factory with them installed. There is not a DOT approved retrofit for any Busa.. to be DOT approved, the entire housing would need changed and then run through process... to the best of my knowledge not a soul has gone to the trouble/expense
have you tried what was previously mentioned above about making sure there adjusted correctly? if i was ever pulled over for them i would give the ("WELL YOU SEE OFFICER, ITS FOR MY SAFETY AND FOR THE SAFETY OF OTHERS TO SEE ME BETTER. THATS WHY I SPENT SO MUCH $$$ ON THESE") speechThanks fo the fast responses. I think I may try the 4300k and if that dosen't work fo me i'll have to take them off. Does anyone know of any good alternatives? My night vision isn't so good. Thats why I got them in the first place. The stock lights are a bit too dim.
Bogus is right about none of them being DOT legal on a busa.
Go with a 4300k or 5000k kit if the color attracts too much attention in your area.
Properly aimed you should not have any LEO issues with a 4300k.
If I were you, I'd go with 5000k. The 4300 is gonna have a decent amount of yellow in it. I have the 5000k from McCulloch and it's pure white. No yellow, and not really any blue either. In my oppinion it's the perfect color temp. It has the most lumens (light output) and it's not super blue so it keeps the leo's off you pretty well. Here are a couple pics for you. Thanks fo the fast responses. I think I may try the 4300k and if that dosen't work fo me i'll have to take them off. Does anyone know of any good alternatives? DOT does not approve anything. DOT sets the standard(s)and that's all it does. Saying DOT approved is a misconception.+1 in order for ANY HID light to be legal/DOT approved, the automobile/motocycle has to come from the factory with them installed. There is not a DOT approved retrofit for any Busa.. to be DOT approved, the entire housing would need changed and then run through process... to the best of my knowledge not a soul has gone to the trouble/expense
+1000Exactly, they set the standards. If it doesn't say DOT on it, it's not legal for street use. Off road use only.
That is not entirely correct. There are (at least have been) some DOT compliant/legal retro fit assemblies made in the aftermarket. Sylvania made them for the 99-02 Chevrolet pickups and the 97-03 Ford F150s. It was a complete housings lens kit. There may have been others but I those are the ones that come to mind. They were expensive. If I remember correctly, about $900 for the kit. I'm sure that is the reason we didn't see more models released.+1 in order for ANY HID light to be legal/DOT approved, the automobile/motocycle has to come from the factory with them installed.
