Leather alterations?

alright fellas, i have for all my life just dealt with how things fit. i'm built like a damn tree stump and nothing has ever just fit well, when when i wasn't a fat ass lol.
anyway, at my old age, i've started to embrace comfort! soft fuzzy jackets, fleece lined jeans in the winter, having shirts and pants hemmed to fit nicely and correctly and so on. so now my desire for comfort has bled over into my riding.
i've had my riding jeans hemmed up, even had them add a couple extra belt loops on the back to keep the pressure off the one lonely loop in the center back.
Next on my alterations list is gloves! i basically have bear paws with vienna sausages... it's really quite comical to look at. So i need to have the fingers shortened anywhere from 1/8th" to 3/8th" but i don't know any place that does leather. It's not cowhide, it's softer stuff, goat? lamb? anyway, the guy that's been doin my alterations said he doesn't do leather... period...
Do y'all know of any place i can send these things to have them trimmed up? I'm hoping to get some riding leathers next year and will likely need them fitted as well, so bonus beers if your guy does work with heavy leathers like that as well.

Hey fat-so...how goes it...
Kiddin bro...don't sit on me. Good leather people can be hard to come by. In my city I use a lady that repairs expensive leather luggage, golf bags, jackets, etc, you name it. Perhaps a nearby Org bro has a recommendation. If not,I just Google for ya...lots to choose from,

Please, don't take this the wrong way... But...
I have a riding friend with extra long arms, so he needed his jacket altered to fit.
He ended up getting his jacket altered and also pants at the same time, at a shop that makes custom "adult" leather wear.. (if you get what I mean)
He reckons they're experts at custom fitting, know what they're doing and understand about making it motorcycle tuff. (as opposed to your normal leather jacket)
A normal leather shop won't have the experience of making the stuff bike tuff.

We get into him about it, but they do exceptional work looking at the result

I mean you gotta assume he didn’t just “happen upon” a place like that Lmfao. That’s absolutely awesome.... maybe I should call up my ex... she’ll likely have a contact in that dept.

I wouldn’t sit on ya bro, yer too boney :P
Google is always an option, I know there’s a couple leather shops around as well. But I try to always ask things here first. Maybe some one here does the type of work I’m looking for, maybe their friend does and also that way I know I’m getting work done by someone who has already produced satisfactory goods for someone else here.
just my way of trying to support our group.

Why are they always bald?
wait... aren’t you bald rubb?!

That jacket looks similar to the one I got with my leathers that I ordered from ebay. Pretty nice except the first set I got was a little tight in the knees so I ended up getting a second set made for less then half the first set since they were coming from Pakistan and sending them back to be altered wasn't really an option. They were also nice enough to make the second set in black and redinstead of white and red like the first set so that if I sold the other set I wouldn't be having the twinzies thing going on. Come to think of it I think I may just have to put the white ones up for sale since I only wore em twice and the better half is always yelling about my closet full of riding gear:laugh::laugh::laugh:

hmmmmm

by some recommendations, very big luck and a very long time of research i found a woman and her leather-repair-shop here in berlin.

she repaired (replaced) the broken zipper in my beloved ancient leather jacket 100% perfectly.
she - in deed - stitched the new zipper in by hitting all previous holes - a wonderful job - i was as happy as a man can be.
so i recommend such a job to others - logical, right?

so my hint was, to ask for some "live" examples of repairs the shop did and to look for the stitch-holes and how they hit them.
hit everey old stitch-hole? perfect!
hit beside the old stitch-holes? flee the shop - they don´t really love their job.

stitching wrong will weaken the leather and the risk of the leather tearing increases significantly.

so ask other bikers for their experiences and look at their leather and the work they had got to be done.

in the photo you look like my twin brother and your description of the hairiness is 1st class .:lol:

a bit of "obelix, the gaul" - he was not thick only not tall enough for his weight - loooooooooooooool - undersized in tallness

I love you bro for your kind of humor !

More hair on an egg ..
Me and and the egg...very similar. I have had my brains "scrambled" a fair bit ...many a time I got absolutely "boiled" drinking whiskey...I have been "poached" occasionally by women...I've seen it all, been thru the grinder, pretty much "hard-boiled"...but I try and stay "sunny side up" and Rubbersidedown and that's no yoke.:p
