I imagine I would be better off temperature-wise w/ a non-black/colored leather jacket over a solid black jacket in the FL sun.

I was told black helmets aren't any cooler than light colored helmets because they reflect the heat, but leather doesn't reflect much so...

i would guess any color other than white is going too be hot but i think the issue is venting body heat a good perforated set of leathers would be what ya looking for

Dont believe that about the helmet any thing black even cf is going to absorb some heat and transfer it to you. White or silver is good. check out the close outs at New enough I have one of these and it of course does give the protection on leather but is as cool as a t-shirt when your movin. Also perferated leathers are really good when your rollin, stopped is another matter. - my 2 cents

I don't think Blk is any hotter in the summer than any other color and I've had quite a few colors. They ALL get hot if your not moving. The biggest concern is the thickness of the leather. If you have winter leathers (I have some) you will COOK

in the summer moving or not !! Summer leathers are great, but in the winter they get cold soaked quickly even with inter thermo liners. So, depending on how hot, or how cold you ride you need to make your decission on that and not a color. That said, colors do look better but show dirt, bugs and grime real easy. While black just needs to be brushed off because it doesn't show nearly as bad !

My .02 cents

Thanks for the input...but that jacket is fugly. Maybe under another jacket or something like you said. But on it's own? It looks like a knight's costume for the school play.

Black absorbs heat(bad) while white reflects it(good).

But its more about ventilation than color.  I have a z pilot jacket from 1st gear and it ventilates awesomely

2 huge zippers in front that act like air scoops and 2 zippers in the back to let the air out.

Everything will be hot standing still, the key is to keep moving

Here's the jacket, notice how long the 2 zippers in front are, the 2 that are on each side of the main put it on zipper.  Almost from shoulder to waist!!

Here's the zippers in the back, huge!

Arm vents

Sorry, I love this jacket

This liner makes it nice and warm for the winter especially with the scarf

, its removable for summer.

Thanks Charles...I had not seen that one.

Although we don't have the heat for as long as you do down there, I really like my Joe Rocket perforated leather jacket. Like Kento-Moto said...doesn't do much when you are stopped, but as soon as you get moving again, it works great. not sure what they call the model now, mine has a zip out liner inside.

Our temps stay in the 80's from late may until late june,,90's and 100's till mid August, then back to the 80's til sept. I get a little toasty at stops when it is 100+...but what is cool, is as soon as i get moving again, the persperation cools me down quick!
I know a lot of riders use the non-leather stuff....I just prefer to have a little bit-o-cow between my hide and the pavement!

Yeah, I'm looking for perforated leather at this point. Probably all black or blue/black since the concensus seems to be that they are all hot when you're not moving and when you are it doesn't matter if it's black or white leather.

For FL. 85 and above Mesh is far better, it stays pretty cool and gives great protection.

Check motorcyclecloseouts.com they have a little bit of everything. I bought a Moto Gp jacket from them, I love it.
