Led's

OK I'm leaving for bike week tomarrow night. One of my next mods is going to be led's. What I am curious of is how hard is this and how much some of you guys spent on the led's, how many should go on the bike, and keep in mind I never have taken the plastics off my bike but need to learn. Now I know there's people down there that have boths set up and installing them. I don't know if I should wait untill I get back and do it myself or just pay them to do it. I also have someone around me that will work on my bike for 40 an hour. How much would be to much to pay in FL. Thanks and hope to meet a few people at the track on friday.

take your time & do it yourself. Its a great learning experience & a good place to start. Do a lil research & just throw yourself into it. If this person chargin u $40/hr is a friend, don't call him a friend any longer!

Well no he isn't a friend I met him through someone cas I needed some work on my bike done. He accually works at the shop I bought my bike at and I now that they charge like 70 or 75 an hour. I know that it's cheaper doing it myself but I usually do a lot of side work so I try to give other people side work also. I do need and want to get into doing work to my bike myself anyway. I did just do the rear barings and chain and sproket on my quad.

do it yourself... youll enjoy it if you dont hurry and just take your time... remember that the forum will help you out if/ when you get all :poke: and if you dont want to ill do it for 39.99/hr:laugh:

if I lived close enough i'd do it for a case of New Castle lol. Not to mention taillights & turn signals. Ask Doyle

it's fairly simple to do. i did my own. the hardest part is taking the fairings off, and even that is not to bad if you are patient. i think there is a thread on how to remove them on here somewhere. the rest is simple two wire hookups to a switch and the battery. one suggestion is to make some kind of quick connect attachment for the parts that may need to be removed at a later date ie fairing etc.. that way you don't have to cut the wire each time you remove them. leave a little slack in the wire so you can get to them in order to connect/dsiconnect. (if you plan on having any mounted to the inside of the fairings.) you can get quality kits from around $125.00. i'm sure you can get some cheaper, but the ready made kits are easy to install.

OK guy's I'll give it a shot when I get back. Not worried about the wiring cas I'm an electricain. I just have to figure out what connectors and splices to use to make them water tight. I'll look through the threds and ask questions on how you guy's are mounting them and where.

I bought all my LEDs and stuff from advance auto even a black rocker toggle switch with a blue led light in the switch. The toggle is my quick connect point and I mounted it to part of the fairing under the left handlebar. I usually don't work on too many things but I did this time and it's not that hard so take your time and give it a try.

they look so nice when your done...

Screethoprez, what kit is that? Electropod?

It's a bastardized kit I put together.

The LED's are actually 9" flexible, weather proof strips from Harbor Freight and then I didn't want to have a physical switch so I bought the wireless controller from Custom Dynamics (plus the breathe, blink and fade feature is nice to have).

check out BigRod1300. He has Hyperlites and they are really bright. I bought some but haven't had time to install them yet. Bigrod1300 shows you where he put his in a picture.

Cool. and I check out the other guy's.

The parts guy at my dealership was telling me about these. For the price...seems decent.
