I installed heli bars today and everything went great except the left grip... at first when i put it on it didnt move so i thought i was good to go... i knew i should have put something on it but didnt.... anyway i washed the bike and well now i feel like i have 2 throttles! I took the bar end off and applied some hair spray to the inside of the grip and that hasnt worked either... what else can i use??? i dont want to use superglue for fear that i will never get the grip off if i ever need to...

Hairspray. (I should read the post before I respond!)

Er.. hairspray didn't work?

Is there any dirt or debris on the inner grip surface? Was there any oils on the helibars when you installed them?

After a couple of hours, the hair spray should be well glued in place. Grip glue comes with some new grips but I've never used it.

I've used grip glue. It isn't such a pain to remove. Stick something thin under the grip to break its seal, then blow some compressed air in there.

thanks for the inputs... i've never messed with grips on a motorcycle before so just wanted to make sure on what to use... i'll check the dealer tomorrow for something...

Getting them on...my question is how did you get them off??? I am no little guy, and no matter how hard I tried I couldn't budge it (of course I tried the left first). I tried slipping a screwdriver underneath, running it around, and still nothing. Should I try heat? Any help would be appreciated...

i carefully put a flathead screwdriver under the grip and pushed it in about half way... pulled it out and repeated like 4 more times around the grip... then i just grabbed the grip and started twisting it back and forth and it came right off with out a problem and no damage to the grip. Some of these guys say using rubbing alcohol will help too!

oh and by the way.. the hairspray thing did work... it just took until the next day for it to set up i guess... now the grip is solid!

I'm good now-the screwdriver method (combined with the balls to the wall method) got the job done. The right side was a little different-ended up cutting that bastid off-oh well. The new grips (hairspray method) look great! Thanks.

Blow compressed air under it. It will blow up like a balloon and slide right off. I use compressed air to put them back on too.
