Looking at license relocators, to those with the YMCS type, do they flap around in the wind? especially with the single exhaust? Also to those with the STMachine does it bolt up to the stock chain gaurd mounts? Does it face up as much as it looks like in the pictures? Can a car/cop behind you read the license alright? Just a couple of question i need answered befroe i decide...thanks

Can you throw us up some pics or a link to the items you are reffering to?

Not sure about your state, but here in Washington we need to have a light on the plate and it has to be readable at 50 feet. If you do not do it they can pull you over just because and give you a nice little ticket and make you go in for a state inspection. You may want to check that before you do someting in your state.

manapart, as far as lighting goes, i haven't seen/heard of anyone i know get pulled over for it, luckily some of the cops here stay busy enough to not hassle us about little things, some of the people i ride with "ghetto'd" their plates on the swing arm, rear pegs, it hasn;t been a problem ...yet

DTuner -
I have an STMachine plate relocator on my bike and yes is does mount to the chain gaurd holes, which is why I bought it, the plate sits over the sprocket, so I would get a little protection from it. It is readable from behind, and there are LED lights available that you can mount through one of the bolt holes. I went ghetto, the light from the tail shines down enough to see my numbers, and I haven't been hasseled yet.

Here is a pic of how mine looks:

I have the YMCS one .I purchased it at yourmotorcycleshop.com for $110 but saw it the other days at oneidasuzuki.com for $87.99 Here is a link with pics of it on my bike

MC can you take a night pic sometime without the flash, it would be nice to see if it bright enough for us in Washington, would like to do some sort of rear mod, but don't want to get hassled either.

Manatrader,
Here is a picture that I took tonight...you can't see the numbers from 50 ft, but you can tell there's a plate there; hope this helps.

For those concerned about lighting on sidemount plates here is a pic of what I plan to put on mine.  Found it this site:  <a href="http://www.customdynamics.com/illuminatorz_licence_plates.htm">Custom Dynamics<a>. Didn't get the frame because it's supposed to mount to the plate or I will get a custom frame.

BigBSBusa those are nice, wonder how the get the power there, take pic it will be nice to see how you do it.

I'm told by ST Machine that they're currently developing a light for their relocator brackets. It's supposed to be done in a couple weeks. I definitely need a light for my plate. Not sure how I'm going to run wiring yet though.

I'm not sure what the power draw would be, but I suppose you could tap into the taillight (except for the brake aspect of it) or run a wire all the way back from the headlight. I had someone do it for me, so I will ask how he did it.

From the taillight, you could run along the subframe, down the frame and inside the swingarm. From the headlight, run along the inside of the frame and down and inside the swingarm. I don't think it would be that hard.
