Linking a video to a thread post...

I have a video on my computer of me leaving on the first leg of my last ride before my wreck and I want to let others on here view it. Can anyone tell me how I can do that without going out and buying more software?

First thing you'll have to do is upload the file to an internet available server. You can usually get around 5MB of storage free with your ISP (Internet Service Provider). You will have to get an FTP (File Transfer Protocol) program. You can download these for free, or I could e-mail you one. This allows you're PC to transfer data to/from the server.

Once you have the file stored on the internet server, then all you have to do is copy the URL (link address), and paste it into the "link" box that pops up when you click on the link icon. See the pic below.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you want the FTP program, or more help.

If you don't use an internet server, then you will have to set up YOUR computer as a server. This raises a whole new set of concerns. Mainly SECURITY.

If you set it up as a general server, then you are allowing ANYONE in the world to access your PC via the WWW.

The only way around this is to use a firewall, but then anyone accessing the files will need to be granted access to your PC.

You could also set it up to be a server using ONLY the FTP, which would allow you to have user id and password access, but then you have to give that out to anyone you want to share files with.

I would just see about internet server storage, and go that route. Much easier.

Thanks for the help, I am swamped with work right now but, as soon as I get free I will get it done and post it on here.
