I read the first wave of the RPC virus is set to unlease on the 16th.

Just get ALL the Windows security patches - if you run windows, and you should be okay.

I'm still on windows 98, but MS doesn't state whether the WORM affects windows 98 and there is no patch for it.

you should be fine on 98:

PRODUCTS AFFECTED: Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003, Windows NT 4.0, NT 4.0 Terminal Services Edition

Patch this guy before Saturday or your PC is going to be used to send an attack against Microsoft. If you want to attack microsfot then do nothing

Yes, THANK YOU, Bill Gates (I hope you go to HECK).

Every few days for the last six months I've gotten an update notification that contains "A security issue has been identified that could allow an attacker to remotely compromise a computer running Microsoft® Windows® and gain complete control over it. ...".

1 IN 4 COMPUTERS running Windows 2000 or XP has the Blaster Worm, which is consuming so much bandwidth trying to replicate itself that major upstream provider-type people and shutting down their big, nasty routers and trying to reconfigure them to suppress this sucker.

And we have one man to thank for all of the sound decisions behind this fiasco. Oh, and Microsoft Excel -- that ain't half bad

Yeah.. get yourself a good firewall and you don't have to worry about it much. I never got around to installing mine the last time I reformated and it got me last night. I slapped that firewall on and whammo.. msblaster.exe sending outgoing packets.. 20 new ip's a second. I must admit.. I was halfway tempted to leave it on until the 16th just to show my appreciation of micro$oft.
